Reporting to DevOps Manager, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building and automating all facets of technology infrastructure including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, continuous delivery, health monitoring, and alerting. They will be extremely proficient at building, migrating to, and operating Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments with extensive hands-on experience. The job requires a flexible work schedule and after hours on-call rotations.
What You’ll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives
Objective #1 - Within your first 30 days, build an understanding of the current technology landscape at Veryon:
- Learn Veyron’s software products and their tech stacks through demos, reading and self-teaching
- Gain an understanding of the various hosting methodologies at Veryon, and more specifically Veryon’s implementation of AWS cloud native services
- Build, execute, and enhance documentation of existing build and deployment frameworks
- Learn and understand current process of troubleshooting applications and infrastructure
- Complete AWS DevOps training
- Gain a basic understanding of Terraform and Jenkins, and Cloud Native services such as AWS RDS, EKS, Elastic Beanstalk, Route 53, Cloudfront, and Cognito
Objective #2 - Within your first 90 days, work with the software development leads, QA automation leads, and DevOps to build/improve current CI/CD pipelines based on DevOps roadmap:
- Manage, track, and document changes to infrastructure and CI/CD code with source control tools
- Successfully troubleshoot and resolve after hours support requests
- Manage and execute against a pipeline of requests for ongoing deployments and support
- Demonstrate ability to manage infrastructure by building and deploying a test environment in AWS using infrastructure as code
- Demonstrate knowledge of various Terraform, Jenkins and AWS Services
Objective #3 - Within your first 6 months, demonstrate ability to contribute to and deliver against Veryon’s engineering technology roadmap:
- Build relationships with Developers and Testers and ensure their DevOps needs are being met
- Provide regular progress on the implementation of infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
- Develop infrastructure security gold templates including images, patching methodologies and open-source software license management
- Manage, track, and document changes to code with source control tools
Who We’re Looking For – The Technical Skills That Matter
- Knowledge and understanding of AWS services: EC2, EKS, Route53, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, ECR
- Knowledge and understanding of Azure services: App Service, Azure Functions, SQL Server
- Experience with CI/CD – Jenkins and Gitlab
- Understanding of Logging and Monitoring (ex: Datadog)
- Ability to build projects from source code in .NET and perform basic debugging on the local machine
